AATCC Offers Blotting Paper for use with PPE Testing
By Erika Simmons
AATCC now offers Blotting Paper for use with PPE testing to AAMI PB70. AATCC PPE Grade Blotting Paper is 150 mm X 250mm and is sold in 5.2lb cases which yield approximately 500 sheets. Now that AATCC provides PPE Grade Blotting Paper, all Impact Penetration testing needs can be fulfilled, from equipment to testing supplies.
The blotting paper traditionally used for AATCC TM42 should NOT be used for testing and classification of barrier performance according to AAMI PB70.
Instead, use AATCC PPE Grade Blotting Paper for your PPE testing needs. AATCC PPE Grade Blotting Paper meets the Blotting Paper requirements.
ANSI/AAMI PB70 establishes a system of classification for protective apparel (including surgical gowns and isolation gowns) used in healthcare facilities, based on their liquid barrier performance. It also specifies labeling requirements and test methods for determining the compliance of protective apparel labeled with liquid barrier claims or liquid-borne microbial barrier claims.
AAMI PB70 Level 1-3 certification and testing requires using AATCC TM42, Test Method for Water Resistance: Impact Penetration along with a Blotting Paper that matches the paper specifications included in the AAMI PB70 standard.
