The $2,000 AATCC Foundation West Scholarship supports undergraduate students studying textiles in a college or university located in the states encompassed by the California, Northwest, (inactive) Midwest, and (inactive) Pacific sections of AATCC. 

The scholarship was funded and established by local sections of AATCC.* In addition to rewarding deserving students, the committee hopes to support the companies and organizations that constitute the sections by encouraging the next generation of employees for these organizations.

Eligibility

  • Rising juniors or seniors
  • Textile- or fashion-related field
  • Colleges/universities located in the states encompassed by the California, Northwest, (inactive) Midwest, and (inactive) Pacific sections of AATCC. As of March 2022, these states are:
    Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Ohio, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Washington, Wisconsin, and Wyoming.
  • Areas of Study:
    • Fibrous Materials, including materials science or engineering and related areas
      Textile Design, including apparel or home fashion and related areas
      Textile Merchandising including management or retail and related areas
      Textile Sciences, including chemistry, polymers, color, and related areas
  • Cumulative grade point average (GPA):
    • 2.8 minimum
  • US citizen, eligible for in-state tuition.
  • Minimum GPA of 2.8/4.0

Selection Criteria

  • Demonstrated leadership experience in school or the community
  • Demonstrated scholastic progress towards the intended degree
  • Financial need

  • Resume or letter of work experience (including internships)
  • Personal statement, freely expressing your feelings, aspirations, financial need and concerns with particular emphasis on your intended career following graduation if decided
  • Copy of your most recent transcripts

*The West Scholarship is funded by designated donations to the Foundation received from the Northwest and California sections, which make up the current Western Region of AATCC (as of February 2022). Two other sections, Midwest and Pacific, donated their section funds towards this Foundation scholarship prior to becoming inactive.
