Are you interested in how technology is transforming the textile industry? Join Dr. Fatma Baytar, Assistant Professor in the Department of Human Centered Design at Cornell University, as she discusses the necessary changes in the apparel industry to leverage 3D digital technologies fully. Through her research, she introduces the use of 3D digital technologies for analyzing body size and shape variations, developing methods and techniques for virtual fit analysis, and exploring possibilities for mass customization. Additionally, Dr. Baytar will lead a discussion on how emerging technologies could train the current and future workforce to create a digitally connected supply chain.

Dr. Fatma Baytar

Dr. Fatma Baytar is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Human Centered Design at Cornell University. She is cross trained in textile engineering and apparel design, and is a recipient of a National Science Foundation (NSF) CAREER Award. Dr. Baytar has conducted research in the areas of the use of 3D body scan data as well as 3D apparel simulations in determining the sizing and fit of apparel, digital avatars and body image issues, AR applications for virtual dressing rooms, and the effects of using 3D virtual prototyping and VR on design skills.
