AATCC is an exhibitor and presenter at the upcoming SDC International Conference. The conference theme is Sustainability & Circularity in Coloration. The two-day event features a truly international list of speakers from nearly a dozen countries. Sessions cover a range of topics from natural dyes to artificial intelligence. The AATCC presentation will be part of the session titled Reinventing Dyeing and Finishing, presenting early-stage research and standards development in biobased and biodegradable materials. AATCC committee RA100 Global Sustainability recently launched a task group to address these areas of growing interest.

Research is in early stages with lots still to learn! From fiber fragments to PFAS, we’re starting to understand that what we make tends to stick around. This realization has sparked a growing interest in biobased and biodegradable materials. As with any technology, the first challenge is defining terminology. Followed closely by defining standards for measurement and evaluation.
