Speakers: Lexie Sachs and Amanda PernaHosted by the AATCC NY Metro Section

Thursday, January 28th @ 3pm

Lexie will discuss the broad scope of articles that Good Housekeeping has published concerning reusable consumer masks.

Lexie Sachs is Textiles Director at Good Housekeeping, where she tests and reports on all fabric-based consumer products including clothing, footwear, bedding, towels and more. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Fiber Science from Cornell University and spent several years working in the fashion and home product industries prior to joining the Good Housekeeping Institute in 2013. Lexie is often consulted as an industry expert by major media outlets like The New York Times, The Washington Post, Good Morning America and NBC News for product recommendations, trend analysis and shopping and care tips.

Amanda will discuss her exploration of mask design elements and her efforts to educate others.

Amanda Perna is a fashion designer, author and illustrator. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Apparel Design from the University of Alabama and continued her studies at the Fashion Institute of Technology. She was on two seasons of Project Runway and spent several years designing for major fashion labels in New York before launching her own brands, The House of Perna and Neon Bohemians. Her designs have been sold in major retailers internationally and at retailers including: Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, Anthropologie and Bloomingdale’s. When the COVID-19 pandemic struck, Amanda jumped in, donating tens of thousands of masks and partnering with Good Housekeeping to create videos teaching people make their own masks to protect themselves and others. Amanda has been featured in publications including: Good Housekeeping, Woman’s Day, Elle, Women’s Health and Forbes.
