Louisiana State University’s Fashion Association proudly presents Decadence, our upcoming annual fashion show. This student organization is celebrating ten years running, and needless to say, will be putting on quite the show.
This year’s theme is based off of the modern day Great Gatsby. It will incorporate a 1920’s style mixed with vibrant colors, striking designs, and will give off an electric feel throughout the room. By the end of the show, each attendee will feel as if they have just indulged in an abundance of luxury first hand.
Fashion Association at LSU is a student run committee that encourages its members to make a difference in today’s society, promote local businesses, and uphold a strong name in fashion on and off campus. The annual LSU fashion show is planned and lead by the students in the organization with the aid of some faculty members. Apart from showing off local fashions, to advocate the students’ hard work, some of the pieces created by design students will be shown during the duration of the show. There will also be a student style competition. One must create an outfit that fits the theme of the fashion show and the winning look will have a feature on the runway.
There are certain committee chairs that are in charge of ensuring that each aspect of planning the show runs smoothly. From model casting, to decorations, sponsorship and public relations, to setting up and cleanup following the show, the students do it all. Of course, besides the heads of the committee, each member of the association has an important task to carry out to make sure the show runs its course as it should. A rough total of about 100 people participate in the event, including the association, models, designers, and hair and make up artists.
Decadence is open to all locals. University students, friends, family, local designers, and the general public are welcome to attend. The fashion show will take place in the Royal Cotillion Ballroom on LSU’s campus which is located at 310 LSU Student Union, Baton Rouge, LA 70893. Be sure to save the date of May 11th and start time of 6:00 PM. Doors will open 45 minutes preceding the start time. This show will be one of celebration and will have people talking of its extravagance for months to come.
Ticket Information will soon follow. They will be made available to the public a few weeks prior to the show and can be purchased through the LSU website. Tickets will also be sold on campus for students. Keep an eye on our Facebook page for any update on the show!
