Auburn University’s Apparel Merchandising and Design Association (AMDA) presents The Fashion Event, its 6th annual student-produced fashion show.
This spring’s theme Mirage mixes natural elements to create a minimalist ambience. Infusing movement with light and air, it transports attendees to an atmosphere of simplicity. Mirage eludes the optical sense-experience the illusion.
The Apparel Merchandising and Design Association (AMDA) is a student-led organization that helps to foster and encourage networking skills and creativity beyond the classroom. The Fashion Event is planned by AMDA leaders in conjunction with faculty advisors, students in a fashion event course, and the support of the department. Students participate on every level of the show—from planning and execution, to modeling, and down to cleanup. There is an organizational structure for the student group with two coordinators at the top, committee chairs heading up small committees, and committee members carrying out daily tasks. Select faculty members act as a liaison between the department and the students. About 160 students participate, including planners, models, designers, and event-day volunteers.
Attendees include local businesses, students and faculty, friends and family of designers and models, local community, and invited guests.
