• Organic Solvents in Preparation and Finishing by Robert E. Ritter (Textile Chemist & Colorist, May 7, 1969). This paper discusses the advantages of solvent processing, including a consideration of the solvents themselves, the machinery, economic factors and the current uses being made of solvent processing, along with some predictions for the future.
• Plasma Treatment of Textiles: A Novel Approach to the Environmental Problems of Desizing by The Metropolitan Section (Textile Chemist & Colorist, November 1973). This report on a study of the use of gases to remove PVA size from fabrics took first place in AATCC's 1973 Intersectional Technical Paper Competition at Atlantic City in September.
• Preliminary Investigation of Atmospheric Pressure Plasma-Aided Desizing for Cotton Fabrics by Zaisheng Cai, Yoon Joon Hwang, Yoon-cheol Park, Chuyang Zhang, Marian McCord, and Yiping Qiu (AATCC Review, December 2002). Atmospheric pressure low temperature plasma treatment is able to desize PVA on cotton fabrics in a cold wash without other chemicals.
• Reducing Pollution in Warp Sizing and Desizing by C. Brent Smith (Textile Chemist & Colorist, June 1992). The economic consequences of pollution from warp sizing and desizing are reviewed, pollutant sources and types are identified, and pollution strategies are described.
