J. C. Thomas, supervisor of Dyeing at Chadbourn Gotham in Charlotte, N.C., USA, recreated the Color Wheel developed by Moses Harris in 1766 with hosiery. Using nylon stockings, he began his color wheel with red at the top. He then added 20% yellow to each succeeding stocking until he had as much yellow as red. He then cut 20% of his red each step to get the full yellow. Blue was added to get the green. The yellow was dropped to get the blue. The red was added to get the purple. The blue was dropped to get the red.
