Each year, AATCC presents several prestigious awards at its International Conference. Additional awards are available to student members. Click here to go to the student award page.
Nominations
Any senior member of AATCC may submit nominations for the Olney, Chapin, Millson, TCR Service, and Young Entrepreneur awards. Authors of papers published in AATCC Review are automatically eligible for the Weaver award.

Olney Medal
Established in 1944 in honor of Louis Atwell Olney, the founder and first president of AATCC, the Olney Medal recognizes outstanding achievement in textile or polymer chemistry or other fields of chemistry of major importance to textile science.
Harold C. Chapin Award
The Chapin Award was established in 1958 in honor of Harold C. Chapin, professor of chemistry at Lowell Textile School, who served as national secretary of AATCC for nearly 25 years. Senior members who have dedicated 20 or more years of continuous service to the Association are eligible for nomination. The award is a presented as a beautifully illustrated scroll.
Millson Award for Invention
Henry E. Millson provided an award endowment in 1979 with the stipulation that he never be considered a candidate. After agreeing to that condition, the Association promptly named the award in his honor. All inventions of importance to the textile industry are eligible.
Nomination Form
William J. Weaver Paper of the Year Award
Selected from among the papers published in AATCC Review during the preceding calendar year. All authors of the winning paper are recognized.
AATCC Technical Committee on Research (TCR) Service Award
The award recognizes up to two senior members with at least five years of continuous membership in AATCC, who have contributed outstanding technical service to the Association through activity in a research committee.
Young Entrepreneur Award
This award recognizes young entrepreneurs (less than 40 years of age) operating in the broader textile industry. An entrepreneur is defined as a person who has possession of a new enterprise, venture, or idea, and assumes significant accountability for the inherent risks and outcomes of the creation.
