A US$5,000 scholarship is awarded each year. This scholarship rotates among six Southeast US universities, with textile related departments that offer degrees in textile chemistry, polymer, fiber or color science and similar programs in chemical engineering departments at these universities, as determined by the scholarship committee. Each participating university provides matching funds, allowing the student recipient to receive $1,250 from the Gavin Family Scholarship and $1,250 from the participating university, for a total of $2,500 per semester. Students who receive this scholarship may be eligible to have it renewed for a second year.
Eligibility
Rising freshman, sophomore, junior, or senior. student at Auburn University (Chemical Engineering and Polymer and Fiber Engineering), Clemson University, Georgia Institute of Technology, North Carolina State University, or University of Georgia.

University Rotation Schedule
Eligible students from GEORGIA INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY may submit applications to their advisors by early March each year. Scholarship recipients are chosen in the late spring and will receive $2,500 for the fall semester and $2,500 for the spring semester. The university rotation schedule is as follows:

- Resume or Letter of Work Experience (including internships).
- Personal statement, freely expressing your feelings, aspirations, financial need and concerns, with particular emphasis on your intended career following graduation.
- Letter of support from teacher or faculty.
- College applicants, please attach a copy of your transcript.
- Optional: Photo
